Senior Diesel Mechanic
Talascend is currently seeking a Senior Diesel Mechanic for a contract opportunity with our client in Warren, Michigan.
Overview
The senior diesel mechanic will modify cars and trucks in a prototype environment, performing diagnostics, repairs, and maintenance. They will mentor and oversee team members to ensure standards are met.
Responsibilities
- Maintain vehicle functional condition by working off repair orders or leader instructions and conducting inspections
- Repair mechanical and electrical system malfunctions and replace parts and components
- Read, interpret, and follow service procedures
- Train, coach, and mentor team members related to their job responsibilities and assist as a subject matter expert
- Maintain vehicle records by entering notes, service, and repair orders
- Keep shop equipment operating by following operating instructions, troubleshooting breakdowns, conducting preventive maintenance, and calling for repairs
- Lead daily shop organization and clean-up
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Minimum of 4 years of work experience as a diesel mechanic
Preferred Qualifications
- Certificate in diesel technology or related field
- State diesel mechanic certification(s)
- Valid driver’s license
- Knowledge of vehicle alignments, air conditioning (A/C) system repairs, tire machines, and balancers
