Talascend is currently seeking a Quality Control Team Manager for a direct hire opportunity with our client in Calvert, Alabama.

Overview

the quality control team manager (galvanizing line) will lead the mill quality team to achieve excellent customer performance, world-class quality, and maintain high coil velocity after processing. the role requires supporting engineering and reliability requirements within a heavy industrial environment.

Responsibilities

  • lead a team of specialists and engineers to manage and improve quality of hot-dip products
  • manage coil velocity through the finishing lines
  • work with operations to prevent quality excursions
  • provide technical support to hdgl inspectors
  • support and/or lead customer corrective actions
  • participate in continuous improvement of equipment and product/process performance
  • participate in identifying best-in-class reliability benchmarks and developing plans to close performance gaps
  • contribute to the development and execution of the business plan
  • communicate company policies, conduct performance reviews, and assign work fairly within the team
  • ensure a safe and healthy work environment
  • fulfill responsibilities to achieve the quality commitment

Qualifications

  • bachelor of science degree in engineering, a technical degree, or a combination of education and experience
  • 5+ years demonstrated experience supporting engineering and reliability requirements in a steel mill or heavy industrial environment
  • experience with asis systems
  • extensive knowledge of automotive surface quality requirements, especially exposed surfaces
  • working knowledge of ga, gi, al, cr products and processes
  • working knowledge of sis
  • ability to work with and lead people to achieve positive results
  • ability to execute all elements of the process and product quality control process, including leading sub-processes such as quality planning, quality control, and continuous improvement
  • strong decision-making, analytical, and problem-solving skills
  • ability to anticipate and adopt innovations in digital and technology applications
  • ability to build partnerships and collaborate effectively with others
  • familiarity with efficient processes and continuous improvement practices
  • ability to develop and provide training within maintenance and operations organizations
