Electrical Maintenance Technician
Talascend is currently seeking an Electrical Maintenance Technician for a direct hire opportunity with our client in Calvert, Alabama.
Overview
The electrical maintenance technician is responsible for troubleshooting, installation, predictive and preventive maintenance on all electrical and automation components, while coordinating maintenance activities and providing guidance to the maintenance execution team and contractors. This role also supports the utilization and availability of electrical spare parts, analyzes maintenance needs, and ensures safety and efficiency in electrical systems.
Responsibilities
- Troubleshooting and maintenance of low and medium voltage power distribution systems, including 35kV switchgear, transformers, and 480V switchgear.
- Maintenance of large AC motors (700kW – 12000kW).
- Analyzing, solving, and reporting electrical problems and failures.
- Performing lock-out tag-out procedures and assisting in equipment safety procedures.
- Continuous improvement of equipment reliability through development and review of preventative maintenance procedures.
- Planning and scheduling of preventive and corrective work using SAP software.
- Participating in root cause failure analysis and executing corrective actions.
- Developing and auditing energy control procedures to ensure safety.
- Writing electrical maintenance work instructions and HIRAC development.
- Conducting safety inspections and incident investigations/reporting.
- Coordinating work among different crafts, departments, and contractors.
- Providing technical leadership to contractors and maintenance teams.
- Researching industry best practices and troubleshooting process failure modes.
- Ensuring proper documentation and work order reporting in SAP.
- Supporting compliance with safety and quality standards including ISO and IATF.
Qualifications
- High school diploma required; bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in electrical maintenance applications in an industrial environment.
- Strong knowledge of power feeding and distribution systems, motors, drives, and automation systems.
- Experience with Siemens drive systems and energy control procedures a plus.
- Ability to handle a fast-paced environment with strong organizational and multi-tasking skills.
- Demonstrated decision-making, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Familiarity with SAP, Microsoft Office products, and electrical testing equipment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Siemens TIA portal training and experience.
- Experience with Siemens EPMS and power distribution systems from 35kV – 480V.
- Experience with HV Relay protection systems and hydraulic systems.
