Talascend is seeking an experienced contract Electro-Mechanical Maintenance Technician to support the maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of Automated Storage and Retrieval Systems (ASRS) and related material handling equipment. This role is responsible for ensuring equipment reliability, safety, and uptime in a fast-paced distribution or warehouse environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on ASRS equipment, including cranes, shuttles, conveyors, lifts, and sortation systems

  • Troubleshoot electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, and electromechanical issues

  • Diagnose equipment failures using schematics, manuals, PLC/HMI interfaces, and diagnostic tools

  • Respond to breakdowns and execute repairs to minimize operational downtime

  • Perform electrical work including sensors, motors, encoders, VFDs, motor controls, and safety devices

  • Complete mechanical repairs such as belt and chain replacement, bearing changes, alignment, and lubrication

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • 3+ years of electro-mechanical equipment maintenance experience, preferably with ASRS or automated material handling systems

  • Strong electrical troubleshooting skills (24–480V)

  • Solid mechanical aptitude (conveyors, motors, gearboxes, linear motion systems)

  • PLC troubleshooting experience (Siemens, Allen-Bradley, or similar; diagnostics only)

  • Ability to read electrical schematics and mechanical drawings

  • Experience working in industrial or warehouse environments

  • Basic computer skills and CMMS experience

Preferred Qualifications

  • Hands-on experience with ASRS platforms (Daifuku, Dematic, Murata, TGW, SSI Schaefer, etc.)

  • Technical certification, apprenticeship, or associate degree in a maintenance-related field

  • Experience with robotics, shuttle systems, or automated warehouse technology

  • Familiarity with safety PLCs, light curtains, and guarding systems

Mechanical

  • Combination wrench set (SAE & Metric)

  • Socket sets (SAE & Metric; shallow & deep)

  • Ratchets (3/8” and 1/2”) and extension sets

  • Adjustable wrench (10”–12”)

  • Allen/Hex key sets (SAE & Metric)

  • Torque wrench (where required)

  • Pry bar

  • Ball peen hammer (2–3 lb)

  • Rubber mallet

  • Files (flat and round)

  • Tape measures (25’ and 100’)

  • Torpedo level

  • Tri-square or combination square

  • Alignment bar / line-up pin

Pliers & Gripping

  • Channel lock pliers

  • Needle-nose pliers

  • Linesman pliers

  • Diagonal side cutters

  • Vise grips (standard & needle-nose)

Cutting & Fastening

  • Phillips and flathead screwdrivers

  • Precision screwdriver set

  • Utility / razor knife

  • Banding cutters

Electrical

  • Digital multimeter 

  • Insulated screwdrivers

  • Wire strippers

  • Crimpers (insulated & non-insulated terminals)

  • Electrical test leads and probes

  • Non-contact voltage tester

  • Flashlight or headlamp
