Job Summary
We are seeking experienced Mechanical Installers to support conveyor system integration and automated material handling projects at distribution centers, warehouses, and industrial facilities nationwide.
The Mechanical Installer will be responsible for the mechanical installation, assembly, alignment, and setup of conveyor systems and related equipment. This role works closely with mechanical leads, foremen, electricians, and project supervisors to ensure conveyor systems are installed safely, accurately, and according to project specifications.
Key Responsibilities
- Install, assemble, and set up industrial conveyor systems and automated material handling equipment.
- Read and interpret mechanical drawings, blueprints, layouts, and installation instructions.
- Perform conveyor system layout, measurements, leveling, and alignment to ensure proper installation.
- Install conveyor frames, supports, rollers, belts, pulleys, drive components, and associated mechanical equipment.
- Assemble and install conveyor sections, transfers, sortation equipment, and other system integration components.
- Use hand tools, power tools, and mechanical installation equipment to complete project work.
- Assist with unloading, staging, and positioning conveyor equipment and materials at the job site.
- Install conveyor guarding, safety fencing, handrails, and related equipment as required.
- Perform mechanical adjustments, troubleshooting, and corrections during installation and startup.
- Support conveyor testing, commissioning, and punch-list completion as directed by project leadership.
- Work closely with electrical and controls teams to coordinate mechanical installation and system startup.
- Maintain a safe, clean, and organized work area in accordance with OSHA and customer site requirements.
- Follow all project-specific safety procedures, including lockout/tagout (LOTO) when trained and authorized.
- Travel to customer locations and work extended shifts, weekends, or overtime as required by project schedules.
Qualifications
- 2+ years of experience in mechanical installation, industrial equipment installation, conveyor installation, millwright work, or a related field.
- Hands-on experience installing conveyor systems, automated material handling equipment, or industrial machinery.
- Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings, blueprints, and installation layouts.
- Experience with conveyor assembly, layout, leveling, alignment, and mechanical adjustments.
- Proficient with hand tools, power tools, and common mechanical installation equipment.
- Ability to work at heights, climb ladders, and perform physically demanding installation tasks.
- Ability to lift and move materials and equipment safely, with or without reasonable accommodation.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a project installation team.
- Willingness to travel extensively and work on customer sites nationwide.
- Reliable transportation to the designated meeting or project location.
- OSHA 10/30, scissor lift, aerial lift, forklift, or other relevant certifications are a plus.
Preferred Experience
Experience with one or more of the following is highly preferred:
- Conveyor system integration and automated material handling installations.
- Distribution center, warehouse automation, or fulfillment center projects.
- Belt conveyors, roller conveyors, sortation systems, and transfers.
- ASRS, unit-load, mini-load, shuttle, or VLM systems.
- Conveyor layout, leveling, anchoring, and alignment.
- Mechanical equipment installation, millwright, or industrial construction.
- Conveyor startup, testing, commissioning, or troubleshooting.
Physical & Travel Requirements
- Ability to work on your feet for extended periods.
- Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull materials and equipment as required.
- Ability to work from elevated platforms, ladders, and lifts.
- Ability to work in active construction and warehouse environments.
- Willingness to travel and stay away from home for extended project assignments.
- Flexibility to work overtime, weekends, and varying shifts based on customer needs.
