Talascend is currently seeking an Electrical Foreman for a contract opportunity with our client in Houston, TX.
Overview
The Electrical Foreman will lead and supervise electrical installation crews on large-scale distribution center projects supporting conveyor and automated material handling systems. This role involves coordinating daily field activities, interpreting electrical drawings, and ensuring safety and quality standards are met throughout the project lifecycle.
Responsibilities
- Lead, supervise, and coordinate a crew of electricians and electrical installers.
- Plan and assign daily work activities based on project schedule and priorities.
- Install and oversee installation of conveyor systems and related electrical components.
- Read and interpret electrical drawings, schematics, wiring diagrams, layouts, and installation plans.
- Perform and oversee installation of conveyor motors, electrical panels, junction boxes, conduit, cable tray, control wiring, sensors, and power distribution systems.
- Ensure proper routing, termination, labeling, and organization of electrical wiring.
- Coordinate electrical installation activities with mechanical conveyor installation crews.
- Troubleshoot electrical issues and assist with startup and commissioning activities.
- Monitor crew productivity and ensure work stays on schedule.
- Inspect completed work for quality and compliance with drawings and specifications.
- Communicate manpower needs, material requirements, schedule concerns, and field issues to project management.
- Conduct daily toolbox talks and reinforce site safety requirements.
- Maintain a safe, organized, and productive work environment.
- Ensure all work complies with OSHA, NEC, customer requirements, and safety procedures.
- Train and mentor electricians and installers as needed.
- Assist with punch-list completion, system testing, troubleshooting, and final turnover.
Qualifications
- 7+ years of industrial or commercial electrical installation experience, preferably in conveyor or automated material handling systems.
- 2+ years of electrical crew leadership or foreman experience preferred.
- Experience installing conveyor, automated material handling, or similar industrial equipment strongly preferred.
- Strong ability to read and interpret electrical drawings, schematics, and blueprints.
- Experience with conduit, cable tray, panels, motor controls, sensors, control wiring, and electrical terminations.
- Knowledge of conveyor electrical systems and automated material handling equipment.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to effectively direct and manage a field crew.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced construction environment while maintaining safety and quality standards.
- OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification preferred.
- Electrical license or journeyman-level experience preferred, depending on project requirements.
- Forklift, scissor lift, or aerial lift certification is a plus.
- Demonstrated ability to perform the duties of this position through relevant experience, training, or education.
