Mechanical Installer
Talascend is currently seeking a Mechanical Installer for a contract opportunity with our client in Locust Grove, Georgia.
Overview
This role involves installing automated storage and retrieval systems, robotic automation equipment, and various warehouse automation solutions across different locations in North America. The position requires working on structural, mechanical, and support systems, ensuring proper installation and alignment.
Responsibilities
- Install automated storage and retrieval systems, robotic storage equipment, shuttle systems, lifts, vertical storage modules, and related automation equipment.
- Assemble and install structural steel, racking systems, support structures, platforms, guardrails, and mechanical assemblies.
- Read and interpret mechanical drawings, installation manuals, blueprints, and layout drawings.
- Install and align rails, guide systems, bearings, shafts, motors, gearboxes, drives, chains, sprockets, and precision mechanical components.
- Verify equipment is level, plumb, square, and aligned within specified tolerances.
- Work closely with electrical installers, controls technicians, and commissioning teams during equipment startup.
- Operate scissor lifts, boom lifts, forklifts, and other material handling equipment safely.
- Troubleshoot installation issues and perform mechanical adjustments as required.
- Maintain a safe, organized work environment while following OSHA and customer safety requirements.
- Complete daily installation reports and communicate project status to supervisors.
Qualifications
- OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification
- 2+ years of industrial mechanical installation, automated systems installation, machinery installation, millwright, conveyor installation, or industrial construction experience
- Experience reading mechanical blueprints and assembly drawings
- Strong mechanical aptitude with experience using precision measuring tools
- Ability to work at heights exceeding 100 feet using aerial lifts when required
- Comfortable working in active construction and industrial environments
- Ability to travel extensively throughout the United States
- Ability to work overtime, weekends, and varying shifts based on project schedules
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous ASRS installation experience
- Experience with warehouse automation or robotic systems
- Millwright experience
- Structural steel erection experience
- Forklift, scissor lift, or boom lift certification
- Experience working in distribution centers, manufacturing plants, or automated warehouses
