Talascend is currently seeking a Civil Design Engineer for a remote direct hire opportunity with our client.

Overview:


We are seeking an experienced Civil Design Engineer to support the engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) execution of large-scale combined cycle power plant projects. This role is responsible for the development and coordination of civil design deliverables throughout all phases of project execution, from conceptual engineering through construction support and startup.

The ideal candidate has strong EPC project experience within power generation and understands the fast-paced, multidisciplinary nature of combined cycle plant execution.

Responsibilities:
  • Develop and coordinate civil engineering design deliverables for combined cycle projects
  • Prepare and review:
    • Site development plans
    • Grading and drainage designs
    • Stormwater management systems
    • Underground utility layouts
    • Roadways and paving plans
    • Foundation layouts and heavy equipment support areas
    • Earthwork calculations and quantity estimates
  • Coordinate closely with structural, mechanical, electrical, piping, procurement, and construction teams
  • Interface with clients, subcontractors, and vendors throughout project execution
  • Support engineering deliverables from FEED through IFC (Issued for Construction) phases
  • Review geotechnical reports and incorporate recommendations into civil design packages
  • Participate in interdisciplinary design reviews, constructability reviews, and HAZOP/support meetings
  • Assist with development of engineering specifications, scopes of work, and bid packages
  • Review subcontractor and vendor civil deliverables for quality and compliance
  • Support field engineering and construction teams by resolving RFIs and field design issues
  • Ensure compliance with applicable codes, standards, environmental regulations, and permitting requirements
  • Support project schedules and help identify risks impacting engineering and construction execution

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering preferred
  • 7–15 years of civil engineering/design experience in EPC, power generation, or heavy industrial projects
  • Previous combined cycle power plant experience strongly preferred or oil and gas
  • Strong understanding of EPC project execution processes
  • Experience with:
    • Site grading and drainage
    • Underground utilities
    • Heavy industrial foundations
    • Stormwater systems
    • Earthwork and site development
  • Proficiency with:
    • AutoCAD Civil 3D
    • MicroStation
    • Bluebeam
    • Microsoft Office Suite
  • Familiarity with ASCE, ACI, IBC, OSHA, and local jurisdiction requirements
  • Strong communication and coordination skills in multidisciplinary project environments
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities under aggressive EPC schedules

Preferred Qualifications
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred
  • Experience supporting greenfield combined cycle projects
  • Construction support or field engineering experience
  • Experience coordinating turbine foundation and major equipment interface requirements
  • Familiarity with EPC contractor workflows and document control systems
  • Experience supporting startup and commissioning phases
