Program Manager

Talascend is currently seeking a Program Manager for a contract opportunity with our client in Warren, Michigan.

Overview

The senior program manager is responsible for leading large and complex technical programs within the defense engineering sector. The role involves managing customer communications, creating project planning documents, and ensuring successful completion of project deliverables with a focus on cost, schedule, and performance management.

Responsibilities

• Manage all cost aspects of the program from inception to closeout, including leading the request for proposal (RFP) process and monthly performance reporting
• Lead all schedule activities to ensure team deliverables meet customer deadlines, actively managing risks and developing solutions
• Oversee all performance aspects to ensure the team meets or exceeds customer expectations as per the statement of work
• Manage manpower planning, resource allocation, and program metrics through control documents such as budget sheets, an integrated master schedule, risk register, and scope amendment log
• Lead teams in executing program reviews and design reviews with internal and external stakeholders
• Support business development and forecasting efforts within the department
• Foster a positive team environment, work to improve processes and work instructions, and lead by example

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, business, or a related field
• Minimum of 6 years of program management experience or leading cross-functional teams toward established goals
• Experience in program management practices within the government and defense industry, including working with the U.S. Department of Defense
• U.S. citizen with ability to obtain security clearance at the secret level

Preferred Qualifications

• Master’s degree in engineering or business administration
• Secret or higher security clearance
• Project management certification (PMI / PMP or equivalent)
