Talascend is currently seeking an a Data Automation Engineer for a contract opportunity with our client in Washington, District Of Columbia.

Overview

This role involves supporting data automation tasks in a remote setting, utilizing cloud-based data platforms, and developing innovative solutions to meet enterprise analytics and reporting needs.

Responsibilities

  • Translate business requirements into data engineering and AI solutions for Azure cloud-based data lakes, SQL, and NoSQL platforms.
  • Develop and optimize high-performing data pipelines using Microsoft Azure services including Data Factory, Synapse Pipelines, and Apache Spark Notebooks.
  • Implement data migration, data integrity, and security functions to ensure data quality and protection.
  • Monitor and troubleshoot data pipelines, analyze performance metrics, and tune processes for efficiency and reliability.
  • Collaborate with team members and client personnel to develop data solutions addressing operational challenges.
  • Support Agile DevOps practices, document testing results, and contribute to continuous learning in relevant technologies.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field
  • 2+ years of experience in data automation, cloud data platforms, or related roles
  • Experience with scripting languages such as SQL, Python, or PySpark
  • Experience designing and building ETL/data engineering solutions using Azure services
  • Familiarity with Microsoft database and business intelligence tools, including SQL Server, Power BI, and SSIS
  • Experience with infrastructure as code (IaC) tools like CloudFormation is a plus
  • Demonstrated ability to perform duties through relevant experience, training, or education
  • U.S. citizenship and ability to obtain a Public Trust clearance

Preferred Qualifications

  • Certifications in Azure fundamentals, data engineering, Power BI, AI, or AWS certified data engineer
  • Experience with Generative AI development and related solutions
  • Knowledge of security standards, data profiling, query optimization, and automation templates
