Trim Sewer Technician
Talascend is currently seeking a Trim Sewer Technician for a contract opportunity with our client in Livonia, Michigan.
Overview
The position involves operating industrial sewing machines to produce high-quality sewn products. The role requires executing project tasks independently and collaborating with team members and customers to meet performance and quality standards.
Responsibilities
- Operate and maintain sewing machines and related components, including pattern plates, needles, presser feet, and automatic cutting tools.
- Read and interpret work orders, selecting fabric, thread, and needles, and adjusting machine settings accordingly.
- Inspect finished products, perform repairs as needed, and make machine adjustments to address errors or quality issues.
- Record materials used, maintenance performed, and completed pieces accurately during each shift.
- Attach elastic, zippers, buttons, and other trimmings to sewn pieces based on work order instructions and diagrams.
- Troubleshoot basic machinery problems and request maintenance or repairs when necessary.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Minimum of 4 years of industrial sewing experience
- Basic mathematical skills (add, subtract, multiply, divide)
- Ability to read, write, and understand instructions in English
- Good verbal and written communication skills
- Demonstrated ability to perform the duties of this position through relevant experience, training, or education
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in manufacturing
- Experience working with Juki sewing machines
- Good attention to detail and organizational skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
