Electromechanical Technician
Talascend is currently seeking an Electromechanical Technician for a contract-to-hire opportunity with our client in Katy, Texas.
Overview
The electromechanical technician is responsible for inspecting, troubleshooting, repairing, installing, and maintaining electrical, electronic, and mechanical systems supporting field joint coating and spoolbase operations. The role ensures equipment reliability, minimizes downtime, and supports operational continuity while maintaining safety and quality standards.
Responsibilities
- Perform troubleshooting, testing, and repair of electrical circuits, control systems, and electronic modules.
- Maintain and repair mechanical systems including motors, pumps, gearboxes, and rotating equipment.
- Interpret electrical schematics, technical drawings, and maintenance documentation.
- Execute preventive and corrective maintenance programs to ensure equipment reliability.
- Conduct installation, calibration, and commissioning of equipment and control systems.
- Utilize diagnostic tools and test equipment to identify faults and verify system performance.
- Support fabrication, assembly, and modification activities in accordance with engineering specifications.
- Provide frontline technical support to spool base and field joint coating operations.
- Coordinate with manufacturing, operations, and engineering teams to resolve equipment issues.
- Perform maintenance, repair, and overhaul activities to sustain operational efficiency.
- Maintain organization and readiness of tools, equipment, and spare parts.
- Support mobilization of equipment to project sites as required.
- Ensure accurate documentation of maintenance activities, inspections, and repairs.
- Ensure all activities comply with safety policies, procedures, and regulations, including lockout/tagout and hazard identification.
- Maintain compliance with quality management systems and operational standards.
- Identify equipment risks and recommend corrective and preventive actions.
- Maintain accurate maintenance and compliance records for audit purposes.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and process optimization.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Technical certification in electrical, mechanical, or industrial maintenance preferred.
- Minimum 3+ years of hands-on electromechanical maintenance experience.
- Experience in oil & gas, spoolbase, manufacturing, or heavy industrial environments preferred.
- Experience in repairing mechanical and electronic systems required.
- Strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills (circuits, panels, motors).
- Mechanical maintenance expertise (pumps, gearboxes, rotating equipment).
- Ability to read and interpret schematics, technical drawings, and manuals.
- Experience with preventive and corrective maintenance programs.
- Familiarity with diagnostic tools, instrumentation, and testing equipment.
- Strong problem-solving and root cause analysis capability.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently in high-pressure environments.
- Effective time management, organization, and multitasking skills.
- Commitment to safety, quality, and continuous improvement.
