Payroll Specialist
Talascend is currently seeking a Payroll Specialist for a contract opportunity with our client in Charlotte, North Carolina.
Overview
The Payroll Specialist will manage various payroll functions to ensure accurate and timely processing of payroll for employees in the US and Canada, maintaining compliance with all relevant laws and regulations.
Responsibilities
- Gather and input payroll data, including hours worked, deductions, and bonuses.
- Process end-to-end payroll on a bi-weekly and weekly basis using ADP GlobalView and Oracle HCM.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state/province, and local tax regulations, wage and hour laws, and company policies.
- Maintain payroll records and ensure data integrity in HR and payroll systems.
- Reconcile payroll prior to transmission and validate confirmed reports.
- Manage garnishments, benefits deductions, and other withholdings.
- Respond to employee inquiries regarding payroll, taxes, and deductions.
- Collaborate with HR, Finance, and external vendors to ensure smooth payroll operations.
- Support internal and external audits by providing required documentation and explanations.
- Continuously identify and implement process improvements for payroll efficiency and accuracy.
Qualifications
- Minimum 1 year of payroll experience, ideally in a multi-state (province) or national environment.
- Proficiency in MS Office, specifically Microsoft Excel for generating spreadsheets and utilizing formulas for cross-reference analysis.
- Demonstrated ability to perform the duties of this position through relevant experience, training, or education.
- Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field.
