Talascend is currently seeking a Mechanical Technician for a contract opportunity with our client in Milford, Michigan.

Overview

This role involves supporting vehicle development activities related to body sealing, water intrusion, and vehicle dynamics, working within onsite operations at the Milford Proving Ground.

Responsibilities

  • Perform vehicle handling testing, including VHF testing
  • Conduct VIMF testing measuring vehicle inertia
  • Execute bench marketing testing on competitor vehicles
  • Perform full body airflow, water intrusion, and dust intrusion tests
  • Disassemble and reassemble various vehicles, including competitor models
  • Support projects related to water sealing and vehicle suspension articulation
  • Ensure safety and maintain good housekeeping practices

Qualifications

  • Associate degree in an automotive field, or ASE/State Master Mechanic Certification, or equivalent experience
  • 2-5 years of electrical and/or mechanical firsthand experience
  • Ability to become HV2 certified
  • Proficient in vehicle diagnostic procedures and test drive verification
  • Strong computer skills (MS Office, SharePoint, Outlook)
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to become Level 2 certified driver
  • Ability to troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and computational issues
  • Capability to perform overhead and under dash activities and lift vehicle components up to 50 lbs

  • Effective communication and teamwork skills
  • Ability to learn and share knowledge in a challenging environment
  • Good time management skills
  • Knowledge of ICE and EV vehicles
