Welder
Talascend is currently seeking a Welder for a contract opportunity with our client in Allen Park, Michigan.
Overview
The welder will perform fabrication and welding tasks, supporting garage shop services with metal cutting and welding using various tools and equipment. The role involves working closely with team members to ensure quality work and proper equipment maintenance.
Responsibilities
- Weld instrumentation, exhaust tubes, and bosses.
- Prepare metal surfaces by cleaning with sanding disks and wire brushes to remove impurities such as scale, rust, grease, and moisture.
- Operate manual and semi-automatic welding equipment in vertical, horizontal, or overhead positions.
- Keep shop equipment operating by following operating instructions, troubleshooting breakdowns, performing preventive maintenance, and calling for repairs.
- Participate in daily shop organization and clean-up.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- No previous experience required.
Preferred Qualifications
- Certificate in Welding Technology or related.
- Basic knowledge and ability to TIG or MIG weld.
- Good communication skills and detail-oriented.
- Knowledge to safely operate and use the plasma cutter and oxy-fuel torch to cut out material.
- Has own tools and rolling toolbox.
