Talascend is currently seeking a Maintenance Technician for a contract opportunity with our client in Opa-locka, Florida.

Overview

The Maintenance Technician will support the operations maintenance team by repairing and maintaining material handling equipment and pneumatic systems throughout the facility. They will also install, maintain, and repair automated packaging and distribution equipment, while mentoring junior technicians to enhance their skills.

Responsibilities

  • Promote a safe working environment by following all safety procedures
  • Complete preventative maintenance routines with proper documentation
  • Troubleshoot electrical and mechanical problems related to material handling equipment, including belts, motors, photo-eyes, relays, and more
  • Maintain positive working relationships across all facility operations
  • Track and store department inventory
  • Move up to 49 pounds and stand or walk during shifts lasting up to 12 hours, with or without reasonable accommodation
  • Possibly travel up to 20% as needed

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Ability to work flexible schedules, including weekends, nights, and holidays
  • 1 year of experience with PC competency including Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook

Preferred Qualifications

  • Associates or higher degree from a vocational school or college in mechanical or electrical fields
  • 2+ years of experience with automated conveyor systems and controls
  • 2+ years of experience in repairing material handling equipment
  • 2+ years of conducting predictive and preventative maintenance procedures
  • 1+ years of metal and wood fabrication
  • 1+ years of blueprint and electrical schematic reading
  • 1+ year of knowledge of electrical and electronic principles
  • Experience with Material Handling Equipment (MHE) safety standards according to OEM and safety standards
  • Project management experience
  • Experience with a computerized maintenance management system (CMMS)
  • Experience with robotic or electromechanical operation and maintenance

Physical demands include repetitive bending, crouching, kneeling, reaching, twisting, sitting, standing, and walking. Lifting parts and tools averaging 20 pounds, up to 49 pounds occasionally. Dexterity required for eye/hand coordination, manual tasks, and wrist motion. Working conditions may include small spaces, dust, fumes, hot/cold temperatures, noise, vibration, and wet or uneven surfaces.
