Talascend is currently seeking a Facilities Maintenance Technician for a contract opportunity with our client in Brewster, New York.
Overview
The Facilities Maintenance Technician is responsible for operating, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing facility equipment across multiple locations, ensuring facilities meet safety and operational standards.
Responsibilities
- Perform maintenance, monitoring, and repairs on mechanical, plumbing, structural, furniture, fire, life safety, and control systems to ensure facilities meet applicable standards.
- Travel between multiple facilities to ensure proper operation and functionality.
- Maintain responsibility for facility services, including preventative maintenance, purchasing and inventory control, contracted maintenance oversight, and general maintenance activities.
- Maintain HVAC systems and associated equipment through cleaning, inspection, calibration, and replacement of parts to ensure optimal performance.
- Record equipment readings and make necessary adjustments to ensure proper operation.
- Comply with departmental policies related to the safe storage, use, and disposal of hazardous materials.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment.
- Perform periodic inspections of tools and instruments to ensure proper inventory and functionality.
- Monitor the quality and cost of maintenance work performed by external contractors.
- Adhere to all safety procedures; maintain good housekeeping and safe work areas.
- Identify potential hazards and recommend or implement corrective actions to eliminate risks.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- 5–7 years of relevant work experience.
- Proven experience maintaining and repairing commercial building systems.
- Ability to analyze commercial or industrial mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and HVAC systems; diagnose malfunctions; and perform corrective actions.
- EPA 608 Type II Certification.
- Working knowledge of computer applications, including Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Professional Engineer (P.Eng) license is not required for this role.
Preferred Qualifications
- EPA 608 Universal Certification.
- Two years of trade school education in electrical system design, refrigeration, or HVAC systems.
