Mobile Engineer
Talascend is currently seeking a Mobile Engineer for a contract opportunity with our client in Frederick, Maryland.
Overview
The main function of a Mobile Engineer is to operate, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair facility equipment across multiple systems and facilities. The role requires technical expertise in one craft area such as electrical, HVAC, piping/plumbing, or central utility plant operations, along with multi-skilled capabilities in other areas.
Responsibilities
- Perform maintenance, monitor, and repair mechanical, plumbing, structural, furniture, fire, life safety, and control systems to ensure standards are met.
- Travel between multiple facilities to ensure their proper functioning.
- Maintain responsibility for facility services, preventative maintenance, purchasing, inventory control, contracted maintenance, and general upkeep.
- Maintain equipment by cleaning, inspecting, calibrating, and replacing parts to optimize HVAC system performance.
- Record readings and make adjustments to ensure proper operation of equipment.
- Comply with departmental policies for safe storage, usage, and disposal of hazardous materials, and maintain a clean and safe workplace.
- Perform periodic checks of tools and instruments.
- Monitor quality and pricing of maintenance work performed by outside contractors.
- Follow all safety procedures and maintain good housekeeping in work areas, identifying hazards and proposing solutions.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- 5-7 years of experience maintaining and repairing commercial building systems.
- Ability to analyze operation of commercial or industrial mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and HVAC systems, determine issues, and take corrective action.
- EPA 608 Type II Certification.
- Working knowledge of computer applications such as Word and Excel.
- Valid driver’s license.
- A Professional Engineer (P.Eng) license is not required.
Preferred Qualifications
- EPA 608 Universal Certification.
- Two years of trades schooling in electrical system design, refrigeration, and HVAC.
The shift for this role is Monday through Friday, 8 am to 5 pm.
