Talascend is currently seeking a Chloralkali Superintendent for a direct hire opportunity with our client in the Las Vegas, NV Area.
Overview
The Chloralkali Operations Manager is responsible for leading the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of the chloralkali process area. This role involves overseeing startup, commissioning, stabilization, and long-term operation of the facility, while building a high-performing team and establishing operational standards.
Responsibilities
- Lead chloralkali startup, commissioning, stabilization, and transition into sustained production.
- Build, lead, and develop a high-performing operations team from the ground up.
- Provide hands-on leadership in the field and maintain strong operational discipline.
- Ensure safe, reliable, and efficient operation of chloralkali systems and equipment.
- Partner with engineering, maintenance, reliability, environmental health and safety, and process technology teams to resolve operational issues.
- Lead troubleshooting, root-cause analysis, and corrective actions for process and equipment issues.
- Establish and maintain strong process safety practices, including PHA/HAZOP, MOC, PSSR, and incident investigations.
- Develop frontline supervisors and operators through coaching, training, and accountability.
- Establish and monitor key performance metrics for safety, production, quality, reliability, and efficiency.
- Identify and execute opportunities to improve process stability, throughput, reliability, and operating costs.
- Drive a culture of ownership, accountability, continuous improvement, and safe operating practices.
Qualifications
- 7+ years of leadership experience in chemical processing, manufacturing, refining, or a related industrial operation.
- Significant startup, commissioning, or major plant expansion experience.
- Proven experience leading and developing operations teams.
- Demonstrated ability to build an organization, establish operating standards, and develop frontline leadership.
- Strong understanding of industrial process operations, equipment, instrumentation, controls, and process safety.
- Experience troubleshooting complex operational and process issues.
- Strong communication, decision-making, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment where processes, systems, and organizational structures are still being developed.
- Excellent organizational and execution skills with a high attention to detail.
- Ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced, evolving environment with increasing operational complexity.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to engage both technical teams and leadership.
- Demonstrated ability to perform the duties of this position through relevant experience, training, or education.
