Talascend is currently seeking a HSE Safety Engineer for a contract opportunity with our client in Palmetto, Florida.
Overview
This role involves ensuring the safety, health, and environmental responsibility within manufacturing operations at an LNG plant. The engineer will be responsible for supporting safety programs, conducting inspections, audits, and incident investigations to promote a culture of safety and compliance.
Responsibilities
- Provide HSE field support to production areas and warehouse, conducting shop floor rounds, inspections, and audits.
- Apply Stop Work Authority when necessary and train others to do the same.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant health, safety, and environmental regulations, permits, and certifications.
- Deliver HSE training and coaching to new hires and existing employees.
- Participate in shift starter and tier 1 work shift production meetings.
- Conduct risk assessments and safety audits, review, update, and deploy safe work procedures and job safety analyses.
- Track and report HSE actions and compliance tasks using the HSE Management System (MST).
- Collaborate with internal departments, management, and external stakeholders on HSE matters.
- Support incident investigations to determine root causes and implement corrective actions.
Qualifications
- Five or more years of experience in HSE, with emphasis on industrial safety.
- In-depth knowledge of HSE regulations and best practices, with the ability to apply them in an industrial environment.
- Proven ability to develop positive relationships with production teams to improve safety culture.
- Experience in incident investigation and reporting, with a focus on continuous improvement.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in occupational health and safety, environmental science, or related field, or high school diploma.
- OSHA 30-hour training (certified or in progress).
- Previous field HSE experience in manufacturing or mechanical/welding construction areas.
- Pro-active behavior to engage employees at all levels.
- Commitment to promoting a culture of safety and environmental stewardship.
