Construction Coordinator

Talascend is currently seeking a Construction Coordinator for a contract opportunity with our client in San Antonio, Texas.

Overview

The Construction Coordinator supports on-site project execution for a project & development services team on the Toyota Motor North America account. This role serves as the primary on-site representative responsible for overseeing day-to-day construction activities, verifying work against approved drawings and specifications, and ensuring contractor compliance with safety requirements.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the on-site representative for all active construction activities within the project scope.
• Review and interpret approved construction drawings, specifications, and submittals to verify contractor work is installed correctly and in conformance with design intent.
• Conduct regular site walks to observe work in progress, document field conditions, and identify non-conformances.
• Coordinate with contractors and subcontractors to resolve field conflicts and drawing discrepancies, escalating to the Project Manager as needed.
• Maintain a current set of approved drawings on site at all times.
• Track and document Requests for Information (RFIs), submittals, and field changes to ensure accurate project records.
• Maintain daily construction logs capturing work performed, contractor headcount, weather conditions, safety observations, and notable events.
• Photograph and document construction progress regularly for project reporting, uploading daily pictures of progress, activities, and schedule look-ahead onto BUILD.
• Support the Project Manager in preparing status updates, schedule variance reports, and client-facing deliverables.
• Attend weekly OAC meetings and document meeting minutes.
• Track open items, punch list items, and contractor action items through to closure.
• Assist in the preparation and submission of safety documentation as directed by the Project Manager.
• Work on some weekends as needed.
• Serve as the primary point of contact for contractors on site, coordinating access, sequencing, and logistics.
• Attend and participate in daily pre-task meetings, toolbox talks, and project coordination meetings.
• Coordinate with facility, security, and engineering departments on work permits and site protocols.
• Support completion and routing of work permit applications including various D-Forms.

Qualifications

• OSHA 30-Hour Outreach Course for the Construction Industry (U.S.) — current, valid certification.
• Demonstrated ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and shop drawings across multiple disciplines.
• Minimum 2–3 years of experience in a construction field role (field coordinator, assistant superintendent, project engineer, or equivalent).
• Working knowledge of construction sequencing, means and methods, and quality control practices.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook); experience with construction management or safety audit platforms is a plus.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to document field conditions and communicate issues clearly.
• Ability to work in an active construction environment, including standing, walking, climbing, and working at various elevations with appropriate PPE.
• Good people skills required for work coordination at different organizational levels.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience working on industrial, manufacturing, or mission-critical construction projects.
• Familiarity with Toyota's Construction Safety Requirements (TCSR) or equivalent safety management systems.
• Experience completing safety audit documentation (JSAs, daily safety logs, incident reports).
• Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering Technology, or related field.
• OSHA 30-Hour Construction certification (in lieu of or in addition to OSHA 10).
