Talascend is currently seeking a Construction Safety Coordinator for a direct hire opportunity with our client in Calvert, Alabama.
Overview
The Construction Safety Coordinator will provide hands-on construction health and safety support to promote a safe and compliant environment on active industrial construction projects. They will work directly in the field with contractors, supervisors, and employees to identify hazards, support safety initiatives, and ensure regulatory standards are met.
Responsibilities
- Provide field support in all aspects of construction health and safety, including permitting, compliance documentation, safety communications, and contractor safety coordination
- Collaborate with contractor safety representatives, construction managers, and project managers to ensure program requirements, standards, and procedures are followed
- Lead or assist in completing construction safety projects, inspections, audits, and safety initiatives
- Document, analyze, evaluate, and prepare reports related to safety and health measures such as incident reports, OSHA logs, inspections, and safety KPIs
- Promote safety awareness through meetings, toolbox talks, campaigns, demonstrations, and events
- Conduct field audits and inspections to ensure safety compliance, working closely with contractors and management to develop and track corrective actions
- Participate in incident investigations to determine root causes and recommend corrective actions
- Provide field guidance on construction activities, equipment, work planning, and hazard controls
- Maintain and develop safety programs, including training and verification activities
- Demonstrate company values of safety, teamwork, accountability, relationships, and sustainability
- Ensure a safe and healthy construction work environment and support quality commitments
- Foster an environment of trust and respect within the team
- Maintain knowledge of applicable safety requirements, OSHA standards, and project-specific procedures
Qualifications
- Minimum of 5 years of construction safety experience
- Proficient with Microsoft Office products (Outlook, Excel, Teams, Word, PowerPoint)
- Demonstrated ability to perform the duties of this position through relevant experience, training, or education
