Talascend is currently seeking an Environmental Safety and Health Process Improvement Specialist for a contract opportunity with our client in Winnemucca, Nevada.
Overview
This role involves supporting process improvement efforts related to environmental, safety, and health tasks, with a focus on incident investigation, root cause analysis, data management, and Six Sigma methodologies. The specialist will work closely with various project functions to enhance ES&H performance and compliance.
Responsibilities
- Coordinate a variety of environmental, safety, and health disciplines to implement the company's ES&H program and management system.
- Develop and oversee incident investigation and root cause analysis programs on the project.
- Assist in maintaining ES&H databases, including incident reports, audit findings, and corrective actions.
- Analyze ES&H data statistically to identify performance trends and recommend improvements.
- Lead risk assessments, mitigation planning, and monitoring related to ES&H issues.
- Prepare reports, conduct investigations, and develop incident investigation reports.
- Utilize tools such as 5-Why, Barrier Analysis, and Why Tree for root cause analysis.
- Recommend process and procedural improvements to minimize hazards.
- Coordinate and potentially lead employee training on incident investigation and emergency preparedness.
- Research and interpret relevant regulatory standards and provide technical guidance.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or international equivalent in environmental, safety, health, education, or science-related discipline.
- 8–10 years of relevant experience or 12–14 years of work experience in lieu of degree.
- Strong knowledge of project construction safety standards and environmental regulations.
- Experience in incident investigation, root cause analysis, and safety management systems.
- Ability to develop and deliver training sessions and presentations.
- Proficient in ES&H data management, statistical analysis, and report writing.
- Familiarity with incident investigation processes and tools such as 5-Why and Barrier Analysis.
- Effective communication skills, both written and oral, including experience with technical reports and presentations.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with the client's Advanced Incident Investigation process.
- Bilingual English/Spanish skills (preferred but not required).
