Talascend is currently seeking a Design Release Engineer for a contract opportunity with our client in Warren, Michigan.
Overview
As a Design Release Engineer, you will support the development and integration of interior hard trim and overhead components into vehicle design, ensuring alignment with engineering specifications and manufacturing requirements throughout the product lifecycle.
Responsibilities
- Develop and integrate injection molded hard trim and overhead components, including headliner substrates and overhead system components such as lights, coat hooks, and assist handles.
- Define requirements, execute design balancing fit, finish, DFA, DFM, and cost considerations.
- Lead development activities from concept through validation approvals.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams across engineering, design, manufacturing, quality, and suppliers to ensure project success.
- Support physical measurements, prototype builds, testing, and validation processes.
Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering.
- 4+ years of automotive experience.
- Strong interest in learning about plastic materials, compression molding, and injection molding processes.
- Experience with 3D CAD, engineering drawings, GD&T, and dimensional evaluation.
- Hands-on experience with prototypes, fit, finish, and ergonomics.
- Ability to analyze data, identify trends, and communicate technical information effectively.
- Demonstrated initiative, curiosity, accountability, and willingness to learn in an engineering environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Injection molding, compression molding, or interior trim experience.
- Automotive vehicle development, launch, or supplier experience.
- Familiarity with NX/Unigraphics, Teamcenter, Vis Mockup, or similar tools.
- Exposure to DFMEA, PFMEA, DFSS, Red-X, structured problem solving, or PRTS.
- Experience supporting vehicle programs and collaborating with design, manufacturing, quality, and suppliers.
