Talascend is currently seeking a Civil Engineer for a contract opportunity with our client in Houston, Texas.

Overview

This role involves planning, designing, and coordinating civil, structural, and architectural engineering work within the oil, gas, and chemicals industries. The engineer will be responsible for detailed project phases, technical bid evaluations, and supporting civil site development efforts.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, schedule, conduct, and coordinate detailed phases of civil, structural, and architectural engineering work for projects in the oil, gas, and chemicals sector.
  • Perform civil site development design activities, including resolving conflicting design requirements and complex coordination issues.
  • Utilize Bechtel Standard Application Programs (BSAPs) and 2-D and 3-D Computer Aided Drafting and Design (CADD) tools.
  • Prepare work specifications, technical bid evaluations, and award recommendations for subcontractors or materials.
  • Coordinate engineering efforts across disciplines, clients, suppliers, and contractors.
  • Assist in training and evaluating team members, and review civil site development deliverables and documentation.
  • Contribute to conceptual studies, design reports, and proposals related to civil site development.
  • Support problem analysis and original design work.
  • Assist in preparing cost estimates, quantity take-offs, and staffing requirements for proposals and change orders.
  • Check work quality of subordinate engineers and support a collaborative work environment fostering teamwork and innovation.

Qualifications

  • A recognized Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited college or university, with 6+ years of relevant experience.
  • A professional license in an appropriate engineering discipline from a recognized licensing board.
  • Practical work experience in design engineering or relevant equivalent experience in allied types of engineering.
  • Knowledge of discipline engineering techniques, civil site development design, and engineering calculations.
  • Experience with civil site design deliverables such as site layout, drainage, grading, pavements, utilities, and soil stabilization.
  • Proficiency with computer applications including Bentley MicroStation, InRoads, CulvertMaster, FlowMaster, CivilStorm, Intergraph Smart3D, or industry equivalents.
  • Understanding of industry or regulatory codes and standards such as AASHTO, ACI, ASTM, and others.
  • Strong communication skills in both oral and written forms.
  • Demonstrated ability to perform the duties of this position through relevant experience, training, or education.
