Talascend is currently seeking an Associate Distribution Engineer for a contract opportunity with our client in South Park Township, Pennsylvania.
Overview
This role involves working on electric utility design engineering projects, ensuring high-quality work and supporting various design and field activities. The position offers opportunities for professional growth, including certifications and mentorship programs.
Responsibilities
- Develop work packages for overhead, underground, underground residential distribution, make-ready, and street light projects using GIS and WMS systems such as GE Smallworld, Bentley Expert Designer, and Maximo.
- Coordinate conflicting utilities and other field engineering design requirements.
- Assess and develop design packages for complex cable and conduit projects in urban environments.
- Create work permits, easements, and ROW applications.
- Design medium voltage switchgear and distribution system protection and coordination.
- Perform engineering calculations, including structural analysis, conductor sags, voltage drop, and flicker.
- Develop permitting documents for various authorities having jurisdiction.
- Support construction activities, including inspections and post-construction reviews.
- Conduct root cause analysis of outages and implement mitigation strategies.
- Travel to site locations as needed to perform inspections and field work.
Qualifications
- Completed Bachelor of Science in an engineering discipline (Electrical, Mechanical, Civil, or Industrial) from an ABET-accredited institution.
- Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.).
- Ability to utilize a personal vehicle for travel.
- Willingness to perform both field and office work, with outdoor work when necessary.
- Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to perform the duties of this position through relevant experience, training, or education.
