Talascend is currently seeking a Building Maintenance Technician for a contract to hire opportunity with our client in Knoxville, Tennessee.
Overview
The Building Maintenance Technician will be responsible for operating, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing facility equipment across various systems in a commercial environment. The role requires technical expertise in one craft area, with proficiency in others, to ensure the smooth operation of building systems.
Responsibilities
- Perform maintenance, monitoring, and repairs to the mechanical, plumbing, structural, fire, life safety, and control systems for the facility to meet standards.
- Maintain responsibility for facility services, preventative maintenance, purchasing, inventory control, contracted maintenance, and technical proficiency.
- Maintain HVAC systems and associated equipment through cleaning, inspecting, calibrating, and changing parts to ensure optimal performance.
- Record readings and make adjustments to ensure proper operation of equipment.
- Comply with departmental policies for the safe storage, usage, and disposal of hazardous materials, maintaining a clean and safe workplace.
- Perform periodic checks of tool and instrument inventory.
- Monitor the quality and pricing of maintenance work performed by outside contractors.
- Work in both indoor and outdoor environments, including exposure to various weather conditions and hazardous materials.
- Assist with physical tasks such as lifting, climbing, bending, and standing for extended periods.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED equivalent
- 2-4 years of experience maintaining and repairing commercial building systems
- EPA 608 Universal Certification
- Ability to analyze and troubleshoot HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and mechanical systems, and take corrective actions
- Computer literacy for record-keeping and work order systems
- Knowledge of computer applications including Word and Excel
- Ability to work independently and provide excellent customer service
Demonstrated ability to perform the duties of this position through relevant experience, training, or education.
