Talascend is currently seeking a Steelmaking Operations Supervisor for a direct hire opportunity with our client in Calvert, Alabama.
Overview
The role involves leading operations for the melting area of the steelmaking team, including managing a team of EAF operators and auxiliary personnel to meet business goals.
Responsibilities
- Supervises and directs operations personnel on specific duties daily
- Enforces company policies using coaching and disciplinary recommendations
- Performs shift turnover with previous and following shifts
- Works closely with maintenance team to diagnose problems
- Works on continuous improvement of processes
- Manages personnel work schedules, attendance, and timekeeping
- Schedules and assigns required training for direct reports
- Responsible for documentation and reporting of issues with root cause analysis and solutions
- Ensures safety, order, and cleanliness of the area
- Demonstrates company values of safety, teamwork, accountability, relationships, and sustainability
- Fulfills commitments to ensure a safe and healthy work environment
- Achieves quality commitments
- Fosters an environment of trust and respect to ensure teamwork
- Maintains knowledge of competencies as defined in ISO 14001, IATF 16949, and ISO 17025
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field, or 4 years of military leadership experience, or 4 years of progressive leadership experience in a steel mill preferred
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in steelmaking (melting, refining, casting)
- Computer proficiency to include Microsoft Office
- Ability to travel internationally
- Advanced process control knowledge, preferred
- Dayforce and/or SAP experience, preferred
- Demonstrated ability to perform the duties of this position through relevant experience, training, or education
