Maintenance Technician

Talascend is currently seeking a Maintenance Technician for an opportunity in Detroit, Michigan.

OVERVIEW:

Repairs and maintains mechanical and hydraulic components of production machines and equipment.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

The following job/task functions have been identified as the core functions of this position. However, the supervisor or manager may assign additional duties associated with this position.

• Visually inspects and listens to machines and equipment to locate causes of malfunctions.
• Dismantles machines and equipment to gain access to problem area.
• Inspects and measures parts to detect wear, misalignment, or other problems.
• Removes and replaces worn or defective parts.
• Realigns and adjusts components such as spindles and clutches.
• Locates damaged air and hydraulic pipes on machine, and measures, cuts, threads, and installs new pipe.
• Starts machines and equipment to test operation following repair.
• Repairs broken parts.
• Ability to wire and troubleshoot basic electrical control circuits.
• Performs all duties and operates machinery & equipment according to MIOSHA standards and company procedures using required safety equipment (gloves, sleeves, ear plugs, etc.).
• Modifies computer-controlled motion of robot.
• Assists Engineer to modify sketches or computer-generated designs of machine components such as hydraulic system and drive mechanism
• Punctual and regular attendance is required.
• Able and willing to work any shift assigned.
• Keeps work areas clean and orderly.
• Participates in continuous improvement activities.
• Assumes other duties as directed by supervisor. TS 16949/ ISO 14001.
• Responsible for reading and understanding the IATF16949, ISO9001:2015 and ISO-14001procedures located at K:/winapps/data/TS Team/Quality System Documentation.

REQUIREMENTS:

• Associate’s degree (A.A.) or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school; or six months to one-year related experience and /or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Journeyman status or equivalent required.
• Basic electrical knowledge of high and low voltage systems.
• Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
• Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
• Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
• Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
• Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
•  Ability to adhere to all company policies and procedures in a professional and consistent manner.
• Able to apply common sense understanding and use appropriate judgment in routine business situations with supervisor, co-workers and customers.
