Talascend is currently seeking an experienced Automotive Validation Engineer for a contract-to-direct role with our client in Newark, CA.

Must be locally based, willing to work on-site or willing to relocate at your own expense.  Must be eligible to work for any employer in the U.S. without sponsorship.  Only W-2.

Overview
This role is part of the ADAS Systems Engineering department, focusing on the validation of advanced driver-assistance and autonomous driving features. The position involves extensive collaboration across departments and suppliers to ensure high-quality, production-ready systems.


Responsibilities
  • Validate hardware/software components related to ADAS/AD features including Adaptive Cruise Control, Highway Assist, and Lane Change Assist.
  • Contribute to system architecture and feature requirements discussions; develop validation tests at component and vehicle levels.
  • Manage the setup and deployment of prototype and production vehicles for testing.
  • Conduct field testing across locations and perform data analysis and result documentation.
  • Develop and improve validation tools, test plans, and processes.
  • Ensure traceability of test coverage and validation to performance requirements and safety standards.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams such as HMI, functional safety, cybersecurity, and infotainment.
  • Manage supplier relationships and work with them on innovative testing strategies.
  • Support delivery of validated, high-quality customer features.

Requirements
  • BS in Systems, Mechanical, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science or similar.
  • 5+ years of experience within Automotive Tier Suppliers or OEMs working on ADAS or autonomous driving systems.
  • Proven ability in hardware/software testing, debugging, and validation for production-level automotive systems.
  • Skilled in developing and executing test plans using automotive tools such as HIL/SIL, Vector, PCAN, or Grafana.
  • Experience managing vehicle test fleets and validating SOTIF.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred
  • Experience with ADAS/AD control and safety systems.
  • Familiarity with agile development tools (Jira, Jama).
  • Programming in Python or C++ for testing/automation.
  • Knowledge of ADAS-related standards (ASPICE, ISO26262, SOTIF).
  • Supplier and project management experience.
  • MS or PhD in a relevant engineering field.
