Validation Engineer - ADAS
OVERVIEW:
This role will focus on testing and validating critical ADAS/AD safety features such as Automatic Emergency Braking, Cross-Traffic Alert, and Lane Departure Protection. This role is integral in ensuring high-quality, fully validated features through comprehensive test planning, execution, and collaboration across cross-functional teams.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Plan and execute test validation for ADAS/AD safety features on both component and vehicle levels.
- Align with teams at our Newark, CA headquarters and support homologation testing (NHTSA, GSR2, Euro NCAP).
- Analyze data, identify root causes, and ensure traceability to performance and functional requirements.
- Support benchmarking, calibration, and development of post-processing methods.
- Utilize tools like HIL/SIL, ground truth systems, soft targets, VRUs, robots, and other modern test equipment.
- Collaborate with suppliers and internal teams to optimize system test and validation strategies.
- Travel to proving grounds and collaborate across teams such as HMI, cybersecurity, infotainment, and homologation.
Position Requirements:
- Bachelor’s in Systems, Mechanical, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or similar.
- 3+ years (non-senior) or 5+ years (senior) of engineering experience in the automotive industry.
- Proven track record with ADAS/AD hardware/software systems for production vehicles.
- Strong knowledge of tools like CANoe, CANape, CAPL, and PeakCAN.
- Experience with GSR2 & NCAP testing scenarios, safety regulations, and SOTIF confirmation.
- Programming skills (Python, C++) for testing and automation.
- Excellent communication and cross-functional team collaboration skills.
Preferred Experience:
- Familiarity with ADAS/AD components like cameras, radars, control systems.
- Understanding of ASPICE, ISO26262, FMVSS, and related safety standards.
- Proficiency with tools like Jira, Jama, and experience in agile environments.
- Background in supplier or project management is a plus.
