Job Summary:
Talascend seeking a skilled and motivated Engineering Group Lead for a contract opportunity located in Kokomo, IN. to oversee and advance continuous improvement initiatives across our manufacturing operations. This role is responsible for leading a team of engineers to ensure production lines operate at peak performance with a focus on quality, uptime, and waste elimination. The ideal candidate will be a hands-on leader with strong project management abilities and a proven track record in engineering support, problem-solving, and process optimization.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead engineering team to drive continuous improvement and implement new model/non-model capacity enhancements.
  • Develop and manage project schedules, budgets, forecasts, and issue tracking.
  • Support cost estimates and feasibility for new and retooling projects.
  • Collaborate with suppliers and participate in new model engineering activities.
  • Identify and resolve technical challenges by leveraging internal and external resources.
  • Drive process improvements to meet PPAP requirements at 85% OPE.
  • Facilitate Kaizen and SPW projects to reduce waste and improve efficiency.
  • Provide troubleshooting support and mentor engineers and maintenance staff.
  • Improve equipment OEE, MTBF, and MTTR through advanced problem-solving methods.
  • Maintain all technical documentation: PFMEAs, control plans, drawings, OPLs, EWOs, etc.
  • Define and catalog spare parts for assigned business units.
  • Present technical reviews to leadership and key stakeholders.
Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Engineering Technology (Manufacturing, Mechanical, or Electrical).
  • 3–5 years of relevant engineering and supervisory/project experience.
  • Strong communication, leadership, and organizational skills.
  • Experience leading engineering teams in manufacturing environments.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Experience in machining processes and manufacturing cost studies.
  • Valid driver’s license required.
Preferred Skills:
  • Deep knowledge of process improvement and problem-solving tools (SPW, statistical analysis, Kaizen).
  • Familiarity with union environments and cross-functional collaboration.
  • Experience managing technical documentation systems and process standardization.
