Talascend is currently seeking a Engine Validation Engineer for an opportunity located in Auburn Hills, MI.
OVERVIEW:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and technically skilled Engine Validation Engineer to lead the execution of validation plans for internal combustion engines on a major vehicle program. This role involves coordinating engine builds, testing activities, and post-test analysis while supporting the overall validation strategy from start to sign-off.

We are seeking a detail-oriented and technically skilled Engine Validation Engineer to lead the execution of validation plans for internal combustion engines on a major vehicle program. This role involves coordinating engine builds, testing activities, and post-test analysis while supporting the overall validation strategy from start to sign-off.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Build and manage the engine validation plan and associated BOM (Bill of Materials).
- Coordinate engine assembly, builds, and delivery to dyno cells for design verification and vehicle builds.
- Lead DV/PV test procedure development and execution, ensuring compliance with performance requirements, DFMEA insights, and industry best practices.
- Maintain comprehensive build records and oversee test property disposition.
- Support dyno testing and engine teardown/post-test analysis.
- Track, report, and communicate validation progress to the Chief Engineer organization on a weekly basis.
- Create and manage Incident Reports, test results, and updates to DVP&R and timing plans.
- Ensure proper storage of all validation records in PDS.
QUALIFICATION:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from an ABET-accredited institution (or equivalent).
- Minimum of 2 years of related engineering experience.
- Knowledge of DFMEA, DVP&R, and engine design/testing processes.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Effective communicator with leadership experience in cross-functional teams.
- Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field with focus on engine development or calibration.
- 5+ years of experience in engine design, development, or validation.
- Hands-on experience with CAN communication, engine teardowns, and rebuilds.
- Prior involvement in creating and executing engine validation plans.
