Air Intake System Product Design And Release Engineer
Talascend is currently seeking a Air Intake System Product Design And Release Engineer for a contract opportunity with our client in Auburn Hills, Michigan.
Overview
The role involves designing, developing, and validating air intake systems for internal combustion engine and hybrid electrified vehicles, including various components and ensuring they meet functional objectives.
Responsibilities
- Design and execute components to meet air intake system, engine, and vehicle level functional objectives.
- Coordinate CAD design, CAE, prototyping, and physical testing.
- Document activities related to design and testing.
- Support sourcing activities and track supplier progress.
- Provide occasional onsite support at applicable engine and/or vehicle assembly plants.
- Support quality concerns, process change validation, and technical cost reduction activities after vehicle launch.
Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Electrical Engineering or equivalent from an ABET accredited program
- Preferred: 2 years or more experience with air intake systems or related engine and vehicle level testing
Requirements
- Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Must be able to lead and manage suppliers.
- Must be able to manage multiple concurrent activities.
- A valid driver’s license is required as well as a clean driving record.
- Will be required to drive a company or rental car.
- Will be required to travel domestically and internationally up to 20%.
- Some domestic and international travel to supplier and corporate vehicle or engine assembly plants, proving grounds, and/or technical centers.
- Working knowledge of air intake systems and components.
- Ability to proactively communicate with others, including teammates, stakeholders, and supervisor.
- Ability to effectively operate independently in a remote or hybrid office/remote workplace.
- General knowledge of CAD design.
- General knowledge of spreadsheets and building presentations.
- Ability to create and apply component and system DFMEAs and DVP&Rs.
- Knowledge in CATIA V5, Unigraphics NX, Vis Mockup, TeamCenter, and PDFs.
Preferred Requirements
- Experience with plastics manufacturing processes and tool design, especially injection and blow-molding technologies.
- Knowledge of systems and processes.
- Green belt or equivalent experience in DFSS proactive and/or reactive quality tools.
- Familiarity with powertrain software and controls.
- Working knowledge of UG/NX CAD systems.
Shift
80% onsite in Auburn Hills
