A Talascend client in Los Alamos, New Mexico is seeking an experienced Project Controls Specialist to support engineering and construction projects. This role is critical in ensuring project schedules align with scope, milestones, and deliverables while providing insight into project performance and recovery strategies.
This position qualifies for long-term expense reimbursement.
Onsite only, with a standard 40-hour workweek, Monday through Friday.

Key Responsibilities
- Support the Earned Value Management System (EVMS) and Project Controls System.
- Perform cost estimating, analysis, and control activities.
- Perform schedule development, maintenance, and monitoring activities.
- Supervise and provide technical direction for cost engineering and/or planning/scheduling activities.
- Ensure work is completed as scheduled.
- Identify trends for management attention.
- Support project organizational and administrative activities, when delegated.
- Has wide-ranging experience, uses professional concepts and Laboratory objectives to resolve complex issues in creative and effective ways.
- Frequently contributes to the development of new theories and methods.
- Considered an expert in the field within the organization.
- Develops resolutions to complex problems requiring frequent use of creativity and in-depth evaluation of variable factors.
- Work is accomplished without considerable direction.
- May coordinate activities of other personnel.
- Exerts significant latitude in determining objectives of assignments and in determining methods and procedures for new assignments.
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field highly preferred, but will consider a combination of education and experience.
- Minimum of 5–8 years of experience in project controls, preferably supporting complex engineering and construction projects, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Advanced knowledge of Earned Value Management System (EVMS) tools and processes.
- Experience in performing, monitoring, and reviewing planning and scheduling functions, including schedule development, control, and analysis.
- Experience with cost engineering functions including cost estimating, cost control, and cost analysis in both the field and home office.
- Advanced knowledge of and experience with project controls and/or project management.
- Experience with project budgets, cost estimating, cost control and cost analysis.
- Experience with project scheduling and implementing corrective actions.
- Ability to develop and deliver detailed and accurate status reports.
- Advanced knowledge of and experience with engineering functions and principles required to understand and successfully implement and monitor technical projects.
- Knowledge of supervision, personnel administration, and training of technical and non-technical personnel.
- Knowledge of engineering and construction management is customarily acquired over time through specialized instruction or practical experience.
- U.S. Citizenship is required due to the nature of the work and federal security clearance requirements.
- Ability to obtain Q Clearance.
