Electrician
Talascend is currently seeking an Electrician for a contract to hire opportunity in Pontiac, Michigan.
Overview
The Electrician will manage the daily operation, maintenance, and repair of the campus electrical power and lighting systems. This role requires advanced technical expertise and the ability to work across various building infrastructure systems.
Responsibilities
• Operate, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair facility equipment across all systems
• Assist with preventive maintenance and performance monitoring of electrical, HVAC, heat exchangers, emergency systems, and hot water systems
• Analyze system operations to diagnose malfunctions and implement corrective actions
• Support other mechanics and operators in major equipment repairs and maintenance
• Install, repair, and maintain electrical controls, switching, and motor control systems
• Monitor, repair, and maintain mechanical and electrical equipment; document readings to ensure proper function
• Follow safety procedures for hazardous materials handling and disposal
• Maintain a clean and safe work environment
• Oversee operation, repair, and preventive maintenance of building electrical and lighting systems
• Act as subject matter expert for electrical, life safety, and fire alarm systems
• Troubleshoot operational and emergency issues and perform corrective measures
• Support other departments in repairing HVAC valves, boilers, pumps, and piping
• Minimize disruptions while performing maintenance and prioritize tasks according to urgency
• Identify and address Environmental Health and Safety issues
• Complete all required training and meet compliance standards
• Recommend facility repairs and improvements for budgeting
• Manage inventory of tools and supplies, submit purchase requests, and track equipment condition
Requirements
• High school diploma required
• Electrician certification or notarized documentation of 8+ years of field experience
• Strong team player with excellent interpersonal and communication skills
• Experience with BMS and CMMS systems
• Physically capable of using electric tools, climbing ladders, lifting heavy loads, and working in confined or elevated spaces
• Proficient in Microsoft Office, Outlook, and Work Order Systems
• Trade license preferred
• Safety training such as NFPA-70e and OSHA-10 is advantageous
• Electrical license preferred
Shift
Off-hours shifts including evenings, nights, and weekends may be required. Must be available for on-call work.
