Maintenance Electrician
Talascend is currently seeking a Maintenance Electrician for a contract opportunity with our client in Gresham, Oregon.
Overview
The role involves maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing electrical systems including motors, conveyors, PLCs, and control panels in a high-volume distribution center. The ideal candidate will ensure safe, efficient operation of facility equipment in compliance with electrical codes and safety standards.
Responsibilities
- Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair electrical systems, including motors, conveyors, PLCs, and control panels.
- Perform preventative maintenance on electrical equipment to minimize downtime.
- Install, test, and maintain wiring, lighting systems, and electrical/Electronic components.
- Repair or replace faulty components such as breakers, switches, fuses, and transformers.
- Ensure all work is performed in compliance with Oregon electrical codes, OSHA regulations, and company policies.
- Perform lockout/tagout (LOTO) procedures to ensure a safe work environment.
- Maintain accurate records of all maintenance work, inspections, and repairs.
- Conduct electrical safety inspections and recommend improvements as needed.
- Maintain electrical systems in a high-volume distribution center (DC) environment, including conveyor systems, automated sorting equipment, and facility lighting.
- Work with facility management to ensure smooth operation of electrical systems.
- Assist with energy efficiency initiatives and sustainability projects.
- Work closely with engineers, technicians, and other maintenance personnel to address operational needs.
- Provide technical support and guidance to other team members when needed.
- Communicate effectively with supervisors and document work orders using maintenance software.
Qualifications
- Oregon Electrical License (LME, LRT, or General Journeyman Electrician)
- High school diploma or equivalent (GED)
- 3+ years of experience as an industrial or maintenance electrician
Requirements
- Prior experience in a distribution center, manufacturing, or warehouse environment preferred
- Experience with PLC troubleshooting, motor controls, and automation systems is a plus
- Proficiency with electrical testing tools, schematics, and blueprints
- Strong troubleshooting skills for electrical and mechanical issues
- Knowledge of National Electrical Code (NEC) and Oregon state regulations
- Familiarity with VFDs, three-phase motors, and high-voltage systems
