PLC Controls Engineer II
Talascend is currently seeking a PLC Controls Engineer II for a contract opportunity with our client in Mason, Ohio.
Overview
This role is focused on commissioning and supporting high-speed sortation and conveyor systems across multiple U.S. client sites.
Responsibilities
- Lead commissioning of PLC and HMI software for automated material handling systems.
- Program and troubleshoot Allen-Bradley PLCs using Studio 5000.
- Perform I/O validation, QA/QC testing, and system readiness checks.
- Support BUAT/UAT/FAT testing and provide post-installation support.
- Maintain technical documentation and ensure safety compliance.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams and provide customer training.
Qualifications
- Bachelors degree in Engineering.
- 4+ years of experience in controls engineering for material handling systems.
Requirements
- Proficiency with Studio 5000 and Allen-Bradley PLCs.
- Experience with conveyors, sorters, and high-speed sortation systems.
- Familiarity with post and parcel operations is a strong plus.
- PLC & HMI: Allen-Bradley, Beckhoff, Wonderware Aveva Edge, FactoryTalk View.
- Drives & Interfaces: VFDs, scanner integration (SICK, Cognex), machine vision.
- Software Tools: Studio 5000, RSLinx, Aveva Edge, AutoCAD, AutoCAD Electrical, Ignition, SOPAS, SST Profibus, Datalogic DataMan.
- Networking: Ethernet/IP, Profibus, industrial protocols.
- Strong project planning and budgeting capabilities.
- Excellent communication and documentation skills.
- Ability to work independently and in fast-paced environments.
- Travel Scope: ~90% nationwide travel to ~20 U.S. locations.
Shift
Typically 10 days onsite, 4 days offsite (e.g., Mon-Fri/Sat, then Mon-Thu/Fri). When not traveling, work is based in Mason, OH. Flexibility may be considered.
