PLC Controls Engineer I
SUMMARY:
As a PLC Controls Engineer I, you will support the commissioning and testing of automated material handling systems, including high-speed sortation, scanning, and merging applications. This is an excellent opportunity for early-career engineers to gain hands-on experience in a dynamic, travel-intensive role.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assist in PLC programming, HMI development, and system commissioning
- Support project scope, schedule, and deliverables
- Collaborate with internal and external engineering teams
- Help develop technical documentation (QA/QC, test plans)
- Participate in BUAT/UAT/FAT testing and post-installation support
- Contribute to customer training and troubleshooting
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering or related field
- Up to 2 years of experience in controls engineering or material handling projects
- Exposure to Allen-Bradley PLCs and Wonderware Aveva Edge (or similar HMI platforms)
- Interest or experience in post and parcel operations is a plus
TECHNICAL SKILLS (Preferred):
- PLC & HMI: Allen-Bradley, Beckhoff, Wonderware Aveva Edge, FactoryTalk View
- Drives & Interfaces: VFDs, Cognex/SICK scanners, machine vision systems
- Software Tools: Studio 5000, RSLinx, AutoCAD Electrical, B&R Automation Studio
- Networking: Ethernet/IP, Profibus, WCS integration
- Other Tools: Ignition, SOPAS, SST Profibus Config Tool, Datalogic DataMan
SOFT SKILLS:
- Willingness to travel extensively and work in dynamic environments
- Strong communication and documentation skills
- Eagerness to learn and contribute to cross-functional teams
