Electrical Test Engineer
Talascend is currently seeking an Electrical Test Engineer for a direct hire opportunity with our client in Norcross, Georgia.
Overview
The Electrical Test Engineer is responsible for the evaluation of design and function for components to produce technical test instructions, review of customer purchase orders, management of order activities, and resolution of test issues.
Responsibilities
- Creating dedication and qualification test procedures for electrical/mechanical/chemical/construction components and assemblies
- Reviewing customer purchase orders and perform order entry into the database
- Planning all activities required to complete the assigned order
- Providing all requirements necessary to procure items and services to purchasing
- Reviewing test data and verifying if the results met established acceptance criteria
- Reviewing manufacturer datasheets/drawings/manuals and establish acceptance criteria for the required tests and inspections
- Creating and dispositioning non-conformance and deviation reports
- Problem solving test failures, product and procedure related issues
- Communicating with internal staff in providing technical details and status updates on the tasks assigned
- Verifying that all the activities related to the assigned order are properly executed by engineering and other departments
- Performing required tests and inspections
- Providing storage and packaging details for sensitive components to shipping/receiving personnel
- Assigning shelf life to applicable components
- Reviewing customer specifications, extracting required technical requirements and ensuring those requirements are met
- Reviewing vendor test reports
- Providing technical support to internal staff and customers
- Reviewing engineering, quality and project management documents as applicable
- Requesting quotes from vendors for items and services
- Reviewing customer requests for quotes and quoting based on capabilities
- Communicating with customers and vendors in requesting/providing technical details and status updates
- Witnessing activities at subcontractor/customer facilities when required
- Creating equivalency evaluations for components and assemblies
- Assisting in inventory maintenance
- Performing 10CFR Part 21 evaluations when required
- Participating in creation and improvement of engineering or related processes when required
- Participating in audits and commercial grade surveys when required
- Assisting project managers in managing the project/order
- Assisting sales and business development in marketing capabilities
- Assisting in training of new employees and other personnel in engineering functions
- Participating in corrective action activities
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering strongly preferred
- Minimum of 2 years of industry experience
Requirements
- Experience in writing technical documents
- Must have experience in reading and understanding technical datasheets/manuals/drawings/schematics
- Experience in testing electrical and mechanical components is preferred
- Strong communications skills: verbal, written and interpersonal
- Ability to follow instructions and work under strict quality controls
- Understanding of electronic database use and provide necessary input for current status and accurate information
- Be able to work in office, warehouse, laboratory and team environment
- Understanding of nuclear industry quality assurance program requirements typically acquired through appropriate experience in the industry including 10CFR50 Appendix B, 10CFR21, ASME NQA-1 preferred
- Ability to lift 25 lbs, bend over, walk, reach overhead, step on a small ladder
- Pass a J1 eye test
- Travel required: 5% of the time
