Prefabrication Shop Coordinator
Talascend is currently seeking a Prefabrication Coordinator for a direct hire opportunity with our client in Appleton, Wisconsin.
Overview
Responsible for coordinating the work of craft, subcontractors, and vendors within the pipe prefabrication shops, ensuring efficiencies are in place for prefabrication and properly coordinated with the field.
Responsibilities
- Develop and establish relationships with prefabrication craft, management, and field operations project teams.
- Serve as liaison between piping and other prefabrication operations as well as field project teams.
- Adhere to and ensure employees commit to the company’s Zero Injury Process.
- Manage craft and union supervision to ensure compliance and safety program is followed.
- Review specifications to plan procedures to ensure completion times and staffing requirements for all prefabrication piping projects.
- Prepare and review reports on progress, materials used and costs.
- Inspect work in progress to ensure that workmanship conforms to specifications.
- Create procedures or methods for the collection of time and material used during preconstruction processes.
- Access any prefabrication issues and work with the client or field personnel to resolve.
- Perform root cause analysis and put in place preventative measures.
- Coordinate and manage shop building maintenance, including upkeep of shop equipment.
- Oversee yard maintenance operations.
- Foster positive union relationships including JAC involvement.
- Establish operating procedures and develop work schedules to reduce inefficiencies.
- Manage assigned prefabrication work with the work of different craft, company departments or subcontractors.
- Manage procurement of tools and materials to be delivered at specified times.
- Direct supervisory personnel and subcontractors engaged in planning and executing work procedures.
- Work with supervisory and engineering personnel, inspectors and tool and material suppliers to resolve prefabrication problems.
- Review schedules and manpower levels.
- Responsible for the recruitment, development, training, and retention of staff.
- Conduct performance evaluations for department staff.
- Provide leadership, guidance, and instruction to the department.
- Responsible for overall QA/QC process adherence.
- Enforce compliance with company and site safety policies.
- Champion a lean manufacturing philosophy focused on eliminating waste.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives through root cause analysis.
- Foster a culture of standardization by implementing and enforcing repeatable processes.
- Collaborate with engineering, planning, and operations to optimize workflows.
- Utilize metrics and KPIs to monitor efficiency, productivity, and quality.
- Lead cross-functional kaizen events or improvement workshops.
- Integrate production planning tools, inventory systems, and capacity models.
- Promote a data-driven decision-making approach using shop-floor feedback.
- Responsible for diversity initiatives.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma/GED and 11 years in the construction industry with previous experience in the construction or manufacturing industry.
- Associate Degree in Construction, Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or related degree and 9 years in the construction industry with previous experience in the construction or manufacturing industry.
- Bachelor's degree in Construction, Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or related degree and 7 years in the construction industry with previous experience in the construction or manufacturing industry.
Requirements
- Must have thorough understanding of OSHA and the latest safety standards.
- Previous work in one or more of the following areas: Fabrication, industrial construction, manufacturing or operations management.
- Minimum five years supervisory experience preferred.
- Heavy Industrial experience preferred.
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions.
- Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
- Must be able to meet company's driving requirements.
- Computer proficiency in Microsoft Suite.
- Proficiency with Oracle Primavera P6 and Accounting software preferred.
