Product Functional Test Mechanical Technician - Level II
Talascend is currently seeking a Product Functional Test Mechanical Technician - Level II for a direct hire opportunity with our client in Lakewood, New York.
Overview
We are looking for a mechanically inclined technician to support engine test cell operations. This role is ideal for someone with hands-on experience working on vehicles, especially diesel engines, and basic computer skills.
Responsibilities
- Preparing test articles meticulously to ensure tests are conducted accurately and reliably.
- Installing instrumentation into test articles per relevant engineering standards.
- Assisting in testing according to established procedures to maintain consistency and reliability in test outcomes.
- Setting up, troubleshooting, and maintaining test stands and lab equipment to keep operations running smoothly.
- Preparing test articles, fixtures, rigs, and equipment to ensure readiness for testing and reduce delays in the testing schedule.
- Minimizing errors and enhancing overall output quality through knowledge of both the product under test and the testing process.
- Actively addressing issues and maintaining laboratory efficiency to refine testing methods and equipment functionality.
- Performing additional duties as needed to demonstrate flexibility and contribute to broader team objectives.
Qualifications
- High school diploma, certificate of completion of secondary education or equivalent experience in an appropriate STEM field is required.
- Regionally applicable certification or two-year Associates Degree from an accredited college or university in a relevant field of study may be required.
- Requires some work experience and intermediate level knowledge obtained through education, training or on-the-job experience.
Requirements
- Expertise in test system design and understanding of test standards, lab requirements, and equipment specifications.
- Proficiency in test setup and configuration, interpreting test plans and establishing optimal test environments.
- Strong assembly skills for building test articles according to requirements and ensuring proper installation of instrumentation.
- Preventative maintenance knowledge for interpreting machine and tool maintenance data.
- Data management acumen to identify, understand, and correct data flaws.
- Effective problem-solving skills to trace, analyze, and resolve issues.
- Attention to safety and precision, ensuring compliance with safety and environmental standards.
- Commitment to continuous learning and staying updated on industry methodologies and best practices.
- Mechanical aptitude: experience working on cars, trucks, or diesel engines.
- Ability to connect/disconnect engines in a test cell environment.
- Basic computer skills required for data entry and system interaction.
- Must be reliable, detail-oriented, and able to work independently.
- Willing to relocate (relocation support available).
Preferred Requirements
- prior experience as a diesel mechanic or technician.
- familiarity with engine testing procedures or shop environments.
- candidates who enjoy hands-on work and have hobbies involving mechanics or machinery.
Shift
2:00PM to 10:00PM, must be willing to work overtime or flex time as necessary.
