Talascend is currently seeking a Lead Piping Superintendent for a contract opportunity with our client in Lake Charles, Louisiana.

Overview

The Lead Piping Superintendent is responsible for supervising and directing operations within the piping discipline, ensuring that construction performance follows specifications and stays within schedules and budgets.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise and direct piping craft, subordinate supervisors, and others as assigned.
  • Coordinate with Direct Hire/Subcontractor Piping Superintendents, General Foreman and Foreman to determine manpower requirements.
  • Schedule work to be performed and review work accomplished.
  • Support Direct Hire/Subcontract preparation of schedules and assist management of quantity tracking.
  • Prepare material requisitions for tools and consumables.
  • Supervise and direct Direct Hire personnel and craft in construction activities within assigned discipline.
  • Prepare reports and forecasts, job manpower forecasts and expenditures forecast.
  • Responsible for the implementation of corporate/project policies, procedures and instructions within assigned operations.
  • Coordinate activities with other disciplines and clients’ resident representative as instructed by construction management.
  • Perform personnel evaluations of subordinate personnel.
  • Ensure that all safety codes, requirements, and standards are being complied within assigned area of responsibility.
  • Interface with Piping Field Engineer.
  • Ensure current revision documents are utilized for installation.

Qualifications

  • Requires bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 10-13 years of relevant experience
  • Preferred: 14-17 years of relevant work experience

Requirements

  • Demonstrated ability to motivate and lead team members effectively & positively in a collaborative team environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to problem-solve in high pressure situations.
  • Heavy industrial direct hire construction experience in a supervisory role commensurate with the type of work to be undertaken.
  • Experience in oil, gas, refinery, petrochemical, minerals processing, or power generating station construction.
  • Computer literate in word processing, spreadsheet, and database applications.
  • Working knowledge of applicable industry codes and standards.
  • Experience developing pneumatic and hydrotest packages in addition to verifying and witnessing acceptance of tests.
  • Understanding of applicable work processes including Standard Work Process Procedures.
  • Advanced knowledge of Project Standard Applications including Setroute, Unifier, Aconex, DSCS, PTR, Agile, Navisworks, and other automation tools.
  • Experience managing technical services subcontracts.
  • Work includes field inspections and the physical ability to conduct field inspections which require extensive walking in and around a construction site often in high heat and high humidity conditions, climbing ladders, climbing scaffolding, working on elevated platforms, working on uneven surfaces and working in small or confined spaces.
  • Some lifting may be required.
  • Must have the ability to walk into and out of the project (enter/egress).
  • Must be able to use appropriate standard issued Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) required for each assigned task.
