Reactor Enclosure System Thermal Analysis Engineer
Talascend is currently seeking a Reactor Enclosure System Thermal Analysis Engineer for a remote, contract opportunity with our client.
Overview
The role involves performing mechanical thermal analyses, including thermal model development and evaluation of reactor structures, as well as providing insights and feedback to design teams.
Responsibilities
- Perform thermal model development and/or model modification for reactor structures evaluating thermal profiles of various configurations and recommendations for modifications or optimization.
- Perform non-record evaluations of various configurations and joints to assess specific areas of challenge or modifications.
- Work with component design leads and analysis engineers to evaluate specific component issues, develop local models or modify existing, and provide insights and feedback to design teams for action.
- Perform thermal modeling of fluid-structure interfaces, including metallic structure thermal problems with structure conductive heat transfer, air convective heat transfer, radiation, and sodium-structure heat transfer modes.
- Perform follow-on scope for preparation and/or Design Verification of Quality Level 1 calculations.
- Use existing models and methods defined by the analysis team and work inside the analysis suite.
- Qualification indoctrination to quality program to perform preparation or verification activities.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or other relevant equivalent program from an accredited university.
- 5-10 years of relevant experience.
Requirements
- Experience and expertise in ASME BPVC Section III, Division 1 and high temperature applications.
- Strong communication skills desired.
