Payroll Specialist
Talascend is currently seeking a Payroll Specialist for a contract opportunity with our client in Charlotte, North Carolina.
Overview
This role plays a critical part in supporting payroll operations during the transition, including system and timekeeping testing, and will also support year-end merger and acquisition activities, ensuring accurate payroll integration, data validation, and compliance throughout the transition.
Responsibilities
- Support testing and validation for the implementation and related timekeeping updates.
- Assist with payroll components of M&A activities, including system testing, data migration, and integration validation.
- Ensure accurate calculation of net pay, including earnings, withholding, and deductions.
- Review and organize payroll documentation required by federal, state, and local authorities (e.g., W 2s).
- Manage pay distribution, including direct deposit processes.
- Maintain and update payroll records; identify and report discrepancies or issues.
- Audit employee timesheets to ensure accuracy and compliance with hours worked and applicable policies.
- Prepare payroll-related journal entries for period-end financial reporting.
Must Have Qualifications
- 3+ years of payroll or related experience
- Expertise with ADP GlobalView
- Experience with system testing, validation, or implementation
- Strong understanding of payroll concepts, regulations, and procedures
- High attention to detail, accuracy, and organizational skills
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities
- Sound judgment and effective problem solving skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelors degree in a related field
- Experience with Kronos timekeeping
- Experience with SAP timekeeping
- Prior involvement in payroll support for M&A activities
- Experience preparing payroll-related journal entries
- Familiarity with Fieldglass time reporting
Shift
8am - 5pm ET (may require additional hours as testing ramps up). Hybrid Schedule: 3 days onsite (may be more based on business need).
