Talascend is currently seeking an Electrical Technician for a contract opportunity with our client in Warren, Michigan.

Overview

The ideal candidate will have experience constructing wiring harnesses for racing, military, or aerospace applications, with a strong understanding of basic D.C. electronics knowledge and experience with high voltage applications.

Responsibilities

  • Assemble, install, perform functional and safety tests and reverse engineer on wiring using hand tools and proper assembly techniques by following work instructions.
  • Install lights, brackets, and electrical hardware to special test boxes, automotive components, and vehicles according to specifications.
  • Test wiring and components for correct operation using a schematic and diagnostic equipment.
  • Perform wiring reworks and repairs on bench and vehicle, crimp and solder, de-pin terminal, create basic schematics and reverse engineer harnesses.
  • Keep shop equipment operating by following operating instructions, troubleshooting breakdowns, performing preventive maintenance, calling for repairs.
  • Participate in daily shop organization and clean-up.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum of 4 years of electrical work experience.
  • Preferred: Certificate in Automotive Electrical Technology or related.

Requirements

  • Must be able to work in the United States legally; cannot provide sponsorship.
  • Must be a U.S. person as defined in ITAR.
  • Strong understanding of basic D.C. electronics knowledge, including principles of current flow, resistance, voltage, voltage drop, OHM’s law, relay fundamentals, E.M.I., and grounding.
  • Familiarity with military-grade components to IPC standards.
  • Electrical Technician must be highly competent and efficient in assembling custom wiring harnesses by hand.
  • Mechanical aptitude with basic understanding of automotive systems and ability to crimp and solder wires.
  • Proficient with hand and power tools and able to operate vehicle lifts.
  • Proficient electrical and electronic troubleshooting skills and the ability to understand electronic schematics and electronic part documentation.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Knowledge of MS Office programs including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Able to work overtime and weekends.

Preferred Requirements

  • Broad knowledge of vehicle systems and related components.
