Facility Maintenance Engineer
Talascend is currently seeking a Facility Maintenance Engineer for a contract opportunity with our client in Topeka, Kansas.
Overview
The main function of a mobile engineer is to operate, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair facility equipment across multiple systems and locations. The role requires technical expertise in one craft area (electrical, HVAC, piping/plumbing, or central utility plant operations) with multi-skilled capabilities in others.
Responsibilities
- Perform maintenance and monitoring repairs for mechanical, plumbing, structural, furniture, fire, life safety, and control systems to ensure standards are met.
- Travel between multiple facilities to ensure proper functioning of all systems.
- Maintain responsibility for facility services, preventative maintenance, purchasing, inventory control, contracted maintenance, and general upkeep.
- Maintain equipment by cleaning, inspecting, calibrating, and replacing parts to ensure HVAC systems operate at optimal performance levels.
- Record readings and make adjustments to ensure proper operation of equipment.
- Follow departmental safety policies for hazardous materials storage, usage, and disposal, and maintain a clean, safe workplace.
- Perform periodic checks of tools and inventory.
- Supervise the quality and cost of maintenance work performed by outside contractors.
- Adhere to safety procedures, maintain good housekeeping, and identify and propose solutions to safety hazards.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- 5-7 years of relevant experience
- Experience maintaining and repairing commercial building systems
- Ability to analyze operation of various mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and HVAC systems, identify problems, and take corrective action
- EPA 608 Type II Certification
- Working knowledge of Word and Excel
- Valid driver’s license
Preferred Qualifications
- EPA 608 Universal Certification
- Two years of trades schooling in electrical system design, refrigeration, and HVAC
