Facilities Maintenance Technician
Talascend is currently seeking a Facilities Maintenance Technician for a contract opportunity with our client in Jackson, Mississippi.
Overview
The main function of this role is to operate, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair facility equipment across multiple systems within various facilities. Candidates should demonstrate technical expertise in at least one craft area such as electrical, HVAC, piping/plumbing, or central utility plant operations, while being multi-skilled in others.
Responsibilities
- Perform maintenance, monitoring, and repairs to the mechanical, plumbing, structural, furniture, fire, life safety, and control systems for the facility to ensure systems are up to standards.
- Travel between multiple facilities to ensure their proper function.
- Maintain responsibility for facility services, preventative maintenance, purchasing, inventory control, contracted maintenance, and general maintenance tasks.
- Maintain equipment by cleaning, inspecting, calibrating, and replacing parts to optimize HVAC system performance.
- Record readings and make adjustments to ensure proper equipment operation.
- Follow departmental policies for the safe storage, usage, and disposal of hazardous materials, maintaining a clean and safe workplace.
- Perform periodic checks of tool and instrument inventory.
- Monitor the quality and cost of maintenance work performed by outside contractors.
- Adhere to all safety procedures, maintaining good housekeeping and safety of work areas, recognizing hazards and proposing elimination methods.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- 5-7 years of experience maintaining and repairing commercial building systems
- Ability to analyze the operation of various commercial or industrial mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and HVAC systems, identify problems, and perform corrective actions
- EPA 608 Type II Certification
- Working knowledge of computer applications including Word and Excel
- Valid driver’s license
- A Professional Engineer (P.Eng) license is not required
Preferred Qualifications
- EPA 608 Universal Certification
- Two years of trades schooling in electrical system design, refrigeration, and HVAC
