Reliability & Maintenance Engineer
Talascend is currently seeking a Reliability & Maintenance Engineer for a direct hire opportunity with our client in Calvert, Alabama.
Overview
The reliability & maintenance engineer will provide mechanical engineering support through reliability processes within a highly automated electric steel manufacturing environment to meet business goals.
Responsibilities
- Provide engineering support for the maintenance team
- Serve as subject matter expert for reliability engineering practices
- Initiate and facilitate root cause analysis of equipment failures and major breakdowns
- Identify and propose solutions for repeat equipment failures and unplanned downtime events
- Participate in execution of critical equipment inspections and analysis
- Analyze equipment data, recommend maintenance plans, and review drawings and technical documentation
- Write technically based equipment maintenance plans
- Perform tracking and trending of equipment maintenance performance
- Fulfill commitments to ensure a safe and healthy work environment
- Ensure adherence to quality commitments
- Foster a team environment that embodies trust and respect
Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical, Industrial, or similar engineering discipline
- Proficient in RCM practices (Reliability Centered Maintenance)
- Able to perform data analysis on equipment performance
- Proficient with Microsoft Office products (Outlook, Excel, Teams, Word, PowerPoint)
- Minimum of 3 years of heavy industrial experience
- Minimum of 2 years of engineering experience in reliability-centered positions within manufacturing environments
- Demonstrated knowledge of mechanical engineering practices
- Knowledge of heavy industrial equipment maintenance and technical systems
- Ability to analyze equipment data and provide reports
- Working knowledge of SolidWorks/AutoCAD and SAP
- Familiarity with fault cause analysis and problem-solving methodologies
- Strong communication skills for technical proposals and organizational reporting
Preferred Qualifications
- CMRP certification
- Steel rolling experience
- PdM certification or qualification (vibration, thermography, oil analysis, tribology, motor circuit analysis)
- Certified Reliability Engineer (CRE)
- More than 5 years of manufacturing industry experience
- Knowledge of RCFA, cause mapping, and kaizen problem-solving techniques
- Ability to interact effectively with multiple stakeholders and lead meetings efficiently
- Strong decision-making, analytical, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to lead change and drive continuous improvement processes
