Talascend is currently seeking a Material Coordinator Assistant for a contract opportunity with our client in Annandale, New Jersey.

Overview

The Material Coordinator Assistant will support the handling, shipping, receiving, and routine inspection tasks involving hazardous materials and chemicals within a laboratory or industrial setting. The role may require forklift operation and adherence to safety protocols.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with specialty chemical receiving, cylinder check-in, and delivery
  • Receive and unpack specialty chemicals
  • Receive gas cylinders and enter chemicals into inventory database
  • Deliver chemicals and cylinders to lab locations
  • Affix chemical labels to all chemicals
  • Operate forklift as required
  • Handle and manage chemical drums, deliver them within the site, and maintain inventory compliance
  • Fill and deliver liquid nitrogen tanks, including handling dewars and operating forklift as needed
  • Transport and deliver dry ice to designated lab areas
  • Staff the stockroom, fulfill requests, stock shelves, verify stock, and manage inventory database entries
  • Perform duties involving hazardous materials, including transporting drums and dewars following safety training and procedures
  • Support safety protocols by participating in safety processes and documentation
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment
  • Perform other related duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED; or three to five years related industrial maintenance experience and/or training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to operate a forklift or powered industrial truck (must obtain license if not already held)
  • Physical ability to lift and move up to 50 pounds frequently
  • Ability to communicate effectively and maintain professionalism under stress
  • Strong attention to detail and safety awareness
  • Basic computer skills, including email and Microsoft Office applications, are a plus
  • Ability to learn and achieve proficiency in the customer’s inventory database

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with handling hazardous materials, RCRA, DOT, and IATA training
  • Experience operating forklifts and handling specialty chemicals
  • Excellent customer service skills and the ability to multitask effectively
